| Aboriginal
Practice Firm
We
opened our doors in January of 1990 with a Mission Statement to provide
academic education and technology training programs to Aboriginal Peoples.
This is accomplished through a seven fold educational strategy that
involves edifying, enabling, equipping and encouraging our students to
succeed in their education and training goals.
About
the Practice Firm:
The
Aboriginal Practice Firm is sponsored by your tuition fees and models
itself after First Nation Band Offices throughout Canada. The practice
firm is an employment program managed by the Native Education &
Training College.
Participants include, but are not limited to, employment insurance
recipients, Ontario Works, WSIB, individuals changing careers and recent
college / university graduates. Participants should possess the basic
skills for the job they are seeking, but lack experience.
In order to be accepted into the practice firm, each applicant must pass
an interview: just as being hired at a First Nation Band Office. The
practice firm allows participants to break the cycle of no relevant
experience and no work. According to mainstream statistics, many
participants find that the gains they make in improved self-esteem,
confidence, time management, and optimism are the utmost value in opening
new doors.
